About Light Therapy
RevitaVet Application Guide
Light therapy has been shown in over 40 years of independent research worldwide to deliver powerful therapeutic benefits to living tissues and organisms. Both visible red and infrared light have been shown to affect at least 24 different positive changes at a cellular level. These results have been widely published for the past several decades, such as in this original ATTACHED ARTICLE published in USA Today.
Light radiation must be absorbed to produce a biological response. All biological systems have a unique absorption spectrum that determines which wavelengths of radiation will be absorbed to produce a given therapeutic effect. The visible red and infrared portions of the spectrum have been shown to be highly absorbent and produce unique therapeutic effects in living tissues.
Infrared therapy is not new to the veterinarian field. In fact, it has been used in the equine market for more than 20 years.
In the early stages of light emitting diode (LED) technology, infrared light was often used to treat performance racehorses for a variety of injuries ranging from abrasions to strained muscles and tendons.
The use of infrared treatment has saved a number of animals from being put down due to injury and non-healing wounds.
WHAT INFRARED TECHNOLOGY DOES
Light therapy has been shown to Increase vascularity (circulation) by increasing the formation of new capillaries, which are additional blood vessels that replace damaged ones….. READ MORE
LED’S VS. LASERS

NITRIC OXIDES
The Nobel Assembly in Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden awarded the 1998 Nobel Prize for Physiology of Medicine to American Scientists for the discovery of Nitric Oxide as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system….. READ MORE
NOGIER FREQUENCIES
Dr. Nogier discovered that frequency-vibrations in resonance with various body tissues, could initiate dramatic healing responses…. READ MORE
INCREASED CELULAR LEVEL, COLLEGEN PRODUCTION, ETC.
Various NASA funded studies conducted by Dr. Harry T. Whelan known as “The NASA Light Emitting Diode Medical Program,” further demonstrate the minimal differences in therapeutic effect between laser therapy and LED therapy. The study “Effect of NASA Light-Emitting Diode Irradiation on Molecular Changes for Wound Healing in Diabetic Mice” document an increase in collagen synthesis, an increase in cellular growth, accelerated wound healing, and a number of additional positive photobiological effects.
DEPTH OF PENETRATION
Depth of penetration is defined as the depth at which 60% of the light is absorbed by the tissue.Treating Trigger points with Light can have a dramatic effect on remote and internal areas of the body through the stimulation of nerves, acupuncture and trigger points that perform a function not unlike transmission cables. CONTRAINDICATIONS
As with all electronic devices, the effects of infrared light therapy with the following conditions is unknown and should not to be used on the following contraindications:
Pregnancy – Do not apply light therapy directly over the womb during the gestation period if animal is pregnant.
Cancer – Do not apply light therapy over areas where an active cancer is present.
